Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF)
debuts the new N. Joyce Payne Center for Social Justice.
Jayla joins other social justice advocates for the Voting Rights Session of the Payne Center’s inaugural Convening in Washington, D.C. Jayla and other panelists discuss the importance of HBCUs as powerhouses for political engagement and advocating for student voting rights after generational struggle to secure voting rights for students. TMCF created the Payne Center as a reflection of the vision of our Founder, Dr. N. Joyce Payne, and her commitment to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) as key institutions for advancing Black Americans’ socio-economic situation through educational attainment. The mission of the Payne Center is to highlight and support HBCU-based research on social justice issues, especially research that quantifies and points to policy solutions that can make real impact on daily lives.
