Jayla returns home to her alma mater to serve as a TEDx Speaker for Prairie View A&M Univeristy-TEDxPVAMU, to present on her work with Civic Engagement & Activism; the place where it all began.  

Jayla’s work on the campus of PVAMU laid the foundation for her work as a voting rights advocate and community organizer. Her category, Civic Engagement & Activism, highlights her commitment to fighting for the rights of Black people and demonstrates her ability to create a movement on behalf of those who are often underrepresented and overlooked. Jayla’s story exhibits that it is never too early to join the fight for liberation. Voting is a power that each of us should take advantage of, and she unlocks the students’ minds by giving them the necessary knowledge to be able to properly exercise their right to vote.
